About NBA®

Founded in 1946, the Basketball Association of America later changed to the National Basketball Association (NBA), includes 30 professional basketball teams organized into four divisions and two conferences: the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference. Originally, basketball was a game that would keep rugby and football players occupied during the winter months, but it became so popular that professional basketball teams were formed by 1895. The NBA is an active member of USA Basketball.

Ratings:
Spring 2009, the NBA finals outperformed five network stations in similar time slots.
The 2009 finals included ESPN's most-viewed basketball game ever and most viewed game on cable history.
Chaps Game 4 in the finals was the most-watched show on cable as of May, 2009.
